Are you a hands-on Health & Safety professional who thrives in high-risk operational environments? Do you have experience in High Voltage environments?

We are seeking an experienced Operational Health & Safety Manager to provide visible, practical safety leadership across live sites within a complex energy and infrastructure setting. This is a part-time opportunity (3 days per week) offering the chance to make a real impact, ensuring safe systems of work, preventing incidents, and embedding a proactive safety culture on the ground.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering day-to-day Health & Safety arrangements across operational sites
  • Acting as the primary on-site H&S contact for managers, engineers, and contractors
  • Conducting inspections, audits, and compliance checks
  • Leading incident and near-miss investigations with clear root-cause analysis
  • Writing, reviewing, and approving RAMS and supporting permit-to-work systems
  • Delivering toolbox talks, briefings, and practical safety guidance
  • Tracking corrective actions and escalating significant risks where needed
  • Championing a positive, proactive safety culture across operations

Skills:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (essential) with IOSH membership desirable
  • Strong operational H&S experience within energy, utilities, infrastructure, or other high-risk environments
  • Proven experience working on live sites with High Voltage electrical systems, substations, or energy centres
  • Practical knowledge of HV safety rules, permits, and Electricity at Work Regulations
  • Confidence to challenge unsafe practice and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
