Summary: Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The registered nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The RN is ultimately responsible for documentation of assessments, interventions, outcomes, discharge plans, and patient/family education. They collaborate with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to provide continuity of care. The registered nurse is responsible for the supervision of the delegation of tasks to appropriate individuals and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care and is accountable to the policies and procedures of the organization. In addition, the registered nurse will work closely with internal teammates to collaborate with industrial delegates on workmen's compensation cases. The registered nurse must be proficient at performing phlebotomy, breath alcohol testing, EKG's, spirometry, audiometry, and urine drug screening. Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups: Neonate (birth – 28 days), Infant (29 days – less than 1 year), Pediatric/Child (1 year – 12 years), Adolescent (12 years – 18 years), Adult (18 years – 65 years), Geriatric (over 65 years). Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care.
  • Competent use of the nursing process to assess priorities, formulate, implement, evaluate and adapt the interdisciplinary plan of care to ensure quality of care is delivered.
  • Develops, discusses, and communicates an inter-disciplinary plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/family/significant other to address all identified needs.
  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care.
  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary. Demonstrates willingness to identify and/or assume activities relative to the developmental needs of the unit and the nursing department.

Job Requirements:

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or temporary permit from the State of Nebraska required. Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire required.
  • EXPERIENCE: Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • SKILLS: Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required. Computer Skills – Ability to use computers and related technology efficiently required. Customer Service required. Time Management – Ability to manage time and tasks efficiently required. Interpersonal Skills – Ability to socially interact and communicate with others in a positive and professional manner required.
