We are looking for a 2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer based in Herefordshire. The position requires a DV clearance and involves supporting and deploying a variety of infrastructure technologies.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate effective application of infrastructure and extensive knowledge across Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS), Microsoft Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP), virtualisation (Hyper‑V), Microsoft Stack Technologies (SharePoint, SQL Server, Skype for Business/Teams), networking and storage.
- Provide technical exposure across outcomes‑based project activities and operational (Business as Usual) support.
- Provide remote and on‑site support; participate in out‑of‑hours on‑call support.
- Contribute to creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation to support project work and operational service.
Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of virtualised environments such as VMware and Hyper‑V.
- Strong Windows Server administration skills (2003‑2019, AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO).
- Experience with Linux system administration (Ubuntu/CentOS).
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP/networking technologies including load balancing and firewalls.
- Familiar with Microsoft stack technologies such as SharePoint, Teams, SQL, System Centre, Office365, Exchange, and CLI tooling like PowerShell.
- Understanding of SAN storage technologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
- Self‑motivated, able to work autonomously, and able to communicate directly with customers and colleagues.
- Must be eligible for DV clearance.
