JPMorganChase's Centre for Carbon Transition (CCT) team leads target-setting and management of the firmwide portfolio-level carbon intensity targets, green financing goal, and Energy Supply Financing Ratio (ESFR) and related external and client engagement. In this role, the team provides transition insights for senior leadership and our banking partners and clients. As a Senior Analyst or Associate, you will use your experience to support the broader mandate of CCT in advising the firm on the energy transition outlook while building your own decarbonisation / transition expertise.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong analytical/quantitative base and excellent attention to detail, working closely with the New York and London-based CCT team and interfacing with internal counterparts across the firm as well as with clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the Firm's strategy to align, over time, its financing portfolio with net zero emissions by 2050
  • Evaluate clients' transition strategies and credibility of decarbonization plans
  • Support and own elements of quantitative client and portfolio carbon analytics, assessing carbon performance at both the individual transaction level and across industry portfolios
  • Translate quantitative and qualitative outputs into executive-ready recommendations for stakeholder engagement and senior forums
  • Support external engagement and events

Required qualifications and experience

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, energy / environmental economics, sustainability)
  • 1-3 years of experience in a relevant energy / decarbonization / sustainability / climate role
  • Ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly (both written and verbally)
  • Excellent analytical skills (including proficiency in Excel, working with large datasets and third-party data sources) and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and self‑starter mindset
  • Demonstrated interest in energy, climate and decarbonization themes

Preferred for Associate consideration

  • Understanding of banking products
  • Understanding of carbon accounting concepts and practical application to corporates (scopes, boundaries, data limitations, and interpretability)

Role characteristics

The role may involve limited travel and offers exposure to a broad spectrum of industries across multiple asset classes and geographies, with significant interaction across internal stakeholders and external clients.
