The Role

The Technical Lead has overall responsibility for all engineering activities and leadership of the team, on the workstream that they are assigned by the Chief Engineer. Their responsibility and accountability extends from project start up through to operations and closedown and includes on contract growth.

What will I be doing?

  • Delivery and technical assurance of the solution within the quality, cost and schedule constraints;
  • Achieving acceptance of the solution by the customer
  • Providing technical leadership and mentorship across the workstream team
  • Ensuring that the engineering processes within the project are commensurate with the requirements of the contracted standards and Leidos corporate governance
  • Identifying the skills and staff required to deliver the engineering solution
  • Defining the engineering practices and resources required to deliver the project and services within the constraints of the company engineering policies
  • Lead and manage effective engineering activities across the project
  • Preparing project specific technical documentation in collaboration with project discipline SMEs for PDR, CDR, SRR and SPR reviews and other technical sessions as required
  • Lead and deliver updates to baseline HLD / LLD documentation as required by the project
  • In collaboration with project PMs prepare technical WBS, PBS and resource BoEs against overall solution proposals for change proposals and on contract growth

What does Leidos need from me?

The candidate is required to be a technical leader, able to coordinate and direct engineering teams in successful delivery and acceptance of the system. Ability to execute and perform, with direction from the Chief Engineer, and possess significant practical experience and applied knowledge across the following areas:

  • Complex systems integration projects, involving IT systems
  • Technical Management of subcontractors
  • Systems Engineering and understanding of the principles behind each of the main processes
  • Technical Team Management including the planning of work packages, allocation to team members and reporting
  • Technical Team Leadership including providing technical direction to team members

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment
  • Ability to clearly articulate and communicate design and technical concepts in written and verbal forms
  • Intellectual calibre and confidence to conduct complex discussions with civilian and service customers and suppliers
  • Commercial awareness sufficient to support discussions with customers and suppliers
