The Policy Officer supports the delivery of FAIRR's policy agenda, helping to advance policy and regulatory frameworks that support sustainable food systems and enable investors to manage material ESG risks and opportunities. The role combines policy analysis, stakeholder engagement and project delivery.
Working closely with colleagues across FAIRR, the Policy Officer will provide operational support to the Policy Team, monitor policy and regulatory developments, contribute to investor-focused insights and policy outputs, and support engagement with policymakers, investors, companies and strategic partners. The role contributes to FAIRR's work on sustainable finance, food systems, agriculture and sustainable finance policy, climate, biodiversity and food systems policy, ensuring investor perspectives are reflected in key policy discussions and policy-making processes.
The Policy Officer will support FAIRR's engagement with policymakers, regulators and multilateral institutions on issues including food and agriculture transition pathways, agriculture subsidy reform, land use and deforestation, and other policy priorities relevant to sustainable food systems.
Project Delivery
Support the planning and delivery of policy-related events and meetings and external stakeholder engagements. Manage assigned projects and workstreams, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, objectives and quality standards.
Research and Analysis
Monitor and analyse policy and regulatory developments relevant to sustainable food systems, sustainable finance, climate, biodiversity and responsible investment. Produce high-quality policy briefings, consultation responses, and other policy-focused outputs for policymakers and investors. Support FAIRR's participation in policy consultations, regulatory processes and multilateral discussions relevant to sustainable food systems.
Stakeholder Engagement
Support FAIRR's engagement with policymaking and multilateral processes relevant to sustainable food systems, ensuring investor perspectives are reflected in key policy discussions. Develop stakeholder briefings, presentations and communications to support engagement activities with policymakers, regulators and other external stakeholders.
Collaboration
Collaborate across FAIRR teams to support organisational priorities and maximise impact. Contribute to cross-functional initiatives and support a collaborative, solutions-focused team culture.
Experience
2-4 years' experience in a relevant public policy role (in food and agriculture, environment, sustainable finance, responsible investment, ESG or a related field). Experience engaging with external stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, investors, NGOs or industry bodies. Experience managing and delivering projects, handling competing priorities effectively. Experience conducting policy research and analysis and translating complex issues into clear, actionable insights.
Knowledge
Understanding of policy and regulatory processes. Knowledge of policy issues affecting food systems, climate, and biodiversity. Understanding of the role of investors in policy engagement. Knowledge of sustainable finance, food and agriculture, ESG and responsible investment. Knowledge of Salesforce and project management tools such as Asana.
Skills
Strong organisational and project management skills, with close attention to detail. Proficiency in PowerPoint and Office 365 tools. Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information from multiple sources. Strong verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to draft concise and credible policy materials.
