The Jeremy Coller Foundation (JCF) is a private foundation based in London and operating globally. The successful candidate will join JCF, working with the FAIRR Initiative’s Policy team to engage on policy issues related to our work raising awareness around the risks and opportunities related to intensive animal agriculture.
The individual will be required to work flexibly across projects at JCF and FAIRR where required; and may require direct line management of staff members where required, ensuring work is planned and delivered smoothly and allowing individual team members to develop their skills.
The individual will play a key role in-
· Providing input into the Policy teams strategic plan and deliverables; taking the lead on executing specific workstreams to deliver these objectives
· Leading on the engagement on the repurposing of agricultural subsidies, especially as it relates to FAIRR’s investor statements and policy engagement.
· Collaborating with FAIRR team colleagues working on biodiversity (and the just transition for farmers) to produce research aimed at policymakers, including representing FAIRR as a subject matter expert.
· Leading high-level multi-stakeholder global initiatives as the point person for FAIRR, where needed.
· Contributing to the Foundation’s broader policy interests in intensive animal agriculture and sustainable proteins
· Contributing to FAIRR’s partnerships with other NGO’s working on policy initiatives related to food and agriculture.
Specifically supporting FAIRR Initiative with:
· Leading on the engagement on the investor statement on repurposing of agricultural subsidies, including engaging policymakers in key countries on this topic, with support of the team.
· Lead FAIRR’s relationships with the external stakeholders where required, including engaging with international bodies on this topic where relevant, including development banks.
· Organising policy events where required and speaking at external events where required to ensure the topic and FAIRR’s work is profiled at various high-level international events in 2025-26.
· Collaborate with FAIRR team colleagues working on biodiversity (and the just transition for farmers) to ensure an aligned approach across FAIRR, including sharing FAIRR’s research with policymakers where relevant, and responding to relevant policy consultations where required.
· Leading the team in drafting briefing papers on the above topic where appropriate, including in the run up to COP30.
· Providing updates to investor signatories on the progress regarding the statement they have signed, at least biannually, in collaboration with other teams.
· Work collaboratively with teams across the organisation to ensure the successful development and delivery of a coherent programme.
· Reporting on progress of projects, aware of risks, opportunities and planning for contingency.
· Build relationships with critical stakeholders, organisations and allies in national and global policy spaces.
JCF:
· Analyse and identify how government legislation, for example in areas such as alternative protein, in key geographies will impact the mission of the JCF’s strategic pillars and develop an appropriate strategic response.
Knowledge and Experience
· Candidates are likely to have deep policy and management experience which could be gained through approximately 6-8 years of professional experience required in a similar role, with policy experience in the UK, and EU desirable, or experience in either North America or Asia.
· Excellent knowledge of the policy landscape and some experience working with governments, regulatory bodies and additional relevant parties is desirable.
· Previous experience working to engage with multilateral development banks such as the World Bank or IMF is desirable.
· Good understanding of how food policy is developed in different governments and departments, and an understanding of how policy priorities are shaped.
· A track record of contributing to policy change across sustainability, finance and/or related fields. Previous experience working with financial institutions or investors is advantageous.
· An understanding of sustainable finance, environmental issues, ESG, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, and other investor policy frameworks which require institutional investor engagement in policy-related issues is desirable.
· Knowledge of biodiversity, deforestation or nature risk is desirable including frameworks such as TNFD.
· An understanding/interest in sustainable proteins and/or agri-food innovation, and relevant networks amongst key stakeholders is desirable.
Capabilities
· Able to develop detailed policy positions, as well as playing a guiding role in developing our policy strategies where required, providing the thought leadership on the governance and leadership needed
· Willingness to travel to represent FAIRR at conferences and meetings
· Ability to work autonomously with minimal need for managerial support
· Strong analytical skills, able to think strategically and synthesise diverse information sources and maintaining an overview of political trends.
· Quantitative and qualitative research skills are required.
· Exemplary project management and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines, as well as ability to ensure project plans are updated and remain on track, as well as the ability to help set the agenda for meetings.
· Line management experience and an ability to proactively create an engaging working environment fostering strong team morale is desirable
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of writing concisely and credibly, with the ability to manage frequently asked questions, and the ability to deputise for the Head of Policy Programmes where required.
· Strong facilitation and presentation skills including experience hosting or organising events or webinars (Note that the applicant will be required to represent FAIRR and JCF to key stakeholders both internally and externally).
