More about this role

As the Lead Social Media Manager, you will drive audience growth and engagement by expanding beyond existing platforms, launching new channels, and fostering online communities that align with sports and betting audiences. You will develop and execute innovative content strategies, working closely with the commercial, product, and editorial teams to ensure social media plays a key role in brand awareness, sponsorships, and user engagement.

Additionally, you will manage a team of content creators, oversee daily social execution across multiple platforms, and use data-driven insights to optimise performance while maintaining the brand’s voice and identity.

This role will require at least 2 days in our office in Waterloo, London.

You will be responsible for:

  • Channel Growth: Explore opportunities away from pre-existing social media channels, defining clear goals and strategies. Includes not only launching on new platforms, but creating new accounts/communities which differ from our current core offering.
  • Creativeness: Leverage your passion for sports and betting to contribute innovative ideas for our content and social channels.
  • Co-Branded Content: Work alongside commercial team to gain access to partners brand assets, and create engaging content to bring further benefit to our relationships.
  • Partner Pitches: Present sponsorship opportunities to commercial team on an on-going basis, with particular focus on marquee betting events.
  • Reporting: Utilize data analysis to continuously improve our social media output, and assist in weekly reporting to the team.

You will be accountable for:

  • Audience Growth: Find and strategize social media growth opportunities, including engagement, acquisition and retention. Growth of existing channels, and also building new audiences on various platforms.
  • Social Execution: Oversee the day-to-day operations of our social media channels across X, formerly Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as our in-house comment sections/chat boards.
  • Team Management: Manage a team who are responsible for creating and editing written and video content for use on owned social channels such as Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, and YouTube.
  • Brand Awareness: Act as a defense of the Oddschecker brand, upholding our brand message, tone of voice, and visual identity for our audience.
  • Audience Advancements: Responsible for developing strategies to build offsite audiences via platforms such as discord. Lead a team to execute and grow these audiences.

You will be supporting:

  • Product Engagement: Work closely with product marketing team to ensure our social channels play a role in product awareness, education and collating feedback.
  • Editorial: Collaborate closely editorial for day-to-day operations and large-scale campaign planning.

Your Skillset:

  • In-depth understanding of social media culture and platforms, including video-first platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience in a social media/content/growth marketing role.
  • Outside of social media, a broad understanding and/or experience in in marketing, digital strategies, and/or user experience.
  • Strong strategic and execution skills.
  • Good stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work in an agile environment amongst multiple different projects.
  • Strong passion for sports and a self-starter.
  • Ability to build and manage social communities for diverse sports audiences.
  • Experience in content creation and utilizing social media to promote content across different sports.
  • Creative and proactive with a strong willingness to learn.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to think critically.
  • Capability to work independently and manage workloads and schedules.
