More about this role

We’re seeking an experienced and strategic Editorial Content Manager to lead the content strategy for two of the UK’s most prominent sports platforms: Oddschecker.com and WhoScored.com. This is a unique opportunity to shape the editorial voice and content roadmap across two distinct but complementary brands – one focused on betting and the other on football statistics.

As Editorial Content Manager, you will be responsible for planning, commissioning, and overseeing high-impact content that drives user engagement, boosts traffic, and ultimately contributes to subscription revenue growth. You’ll bring together creativity, editorial expertise, SEO insight, and a deep understanding of sports fans and bettors to create compelling content that converts.

This role will require to be in our Waterloo offices at least 2 days a week.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and owning the content strategy for both oddschecker and WhoScored that supports business objectives, with specific focus on subscription acquisition and traffic growth.
  • Managing content calendars across both brands, ensuring timely and relevant content is produced around key sporting events, seasons and betting opportunities.
  • Commissioning, editing, and optimising content from in-house writers, freelancers, and third-party contributors – ensuring consistency, quality, and brand alignment.
  • Collaborating with the product and wider marketing team to align editorial with subscription funnels, using content as a lever to acquire, convert and retain subscribers.
  • Optimising content for SEO, leveraging best practices and performance data to continuously improve content output and discoverability across search engines.
  • Leading major event planning and coverage with a strong understanding of key sports such as football and horse racing.
  • Sourcing and managing written content from both freelance and in-house staff.
  • Overseeing the Content Executive(s) as a line manager.

You will be accountable for:

  • Devising, owning and executing the content strategy for the UK marketing team.
  • Driving subscription revenue via content.
  • Driving betting actions via content.
  • Hitting defined KPI’s for site performance.
  • Organising and managing talent for content campaigns.
  • Working closely with the commercial team to optimise co-branded campaign performance.
  • Managing content budgets effectively.

You will be supporting:

  • Wider marketing team with ideas for product enhancements.
  • Social media team with ideas for video and audio content.
  • Marketing and product teams in aligning content with overall brand and campaign goals.

Your Skillset:

  • Proven experience in an editorial or content leadership role, ideally within sports media, betting, or a subscription-based digital product.
  • Strong SEO knowledge.
  • Experience in managing executives and writers.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Analytics and interpreting site performance metrics.
  • Excellent copywriting skills, with experience in editing, proofreading, and providing feedback.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Betting industry knowledge and understanding of sports market.
  • Experience in other sports such as horse racing, boxing, or golf.
  • Experience in managing content budgets.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms and content tools (GA4, Semrush/Ahrefs, etc.).
