What you’ll do: As a Commercial Content Writer, it will be your responsibility to write and optimize commercial content covering the biggest sporting events globally. To do so, you will need to show a clear understanding of popular sports including, but not limited to, Football, Horse Racing and Boxing. In your day-to-day role, you will be tasked with producing content for Oddschecker, tailoring articles to suit the latest SEO trends and search results. From long-term content to reactive articles covering breaking news, it will be down to you as a Commercial Content Writer to produce and manage UK content on Oddschecker and occasionally WhoScored. You will also be required to keep up to date with the affiliate sports betting industry, spotting the latest opportunities to generate regular ideas for the content schedule week-to-week, working alongside the content manager.
All aspects of this role will demand a high level of written English, and a keen attention to detail. Use Content Management Systems (CMS) to produce and manage content in an efficient but accurate manner. Assess the latest content produced in-house and by our partners and competitors to ensure our content is optimized for maximum exposure. Use SEO skills to analyse and optimise written affiliate content to improve performance. You’ll use your keen eye for detail to sub-edit content. Work with analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Search Console to create and improve on all content. Monitor the latest trends to ensure we are producing content targeting the latest terms and events. Work closely with our commercial and marketing operations team to ensure the latest offers are available, and are being used correctly in all content.
Key responsibilities:
- Writing, uploading, and optimizing affiliate content to produce substantial revenue.
- Keep up to date with the current performance of our affiliate content, to see what is working, what is not and where we can improve and form decisions based on the data.
- Use Google Analytics and our in-house reporting tools to understand and influence future content decisions, and report to key stakeholders.
- Ensure our evergreen content is up to date and optimized for maximum performance to drive revenue alongside day-to-day content plans.
- Writing and editing affiliate content across oddschecker and our partner sites.
- Working alongside the Content Manager and the SEO team to improve content performance, and fulfil content briefs.
- Understand different SEO practices to make independent decisions to improve performance of key URLs.
- Analyse affiliate revenue to form decisions and share key learnings.
- Creating and updating our sporting content calendar ensuring all events are planned for in good time.
- Provide ideas for content plans and strategy day-to-day to ensure we are maximizing our affiliate content performance.
- Provide ideas for product and marketing improvements that you believe will aid our growth as an affiliate content team.
- Delivering out of hours commercial content where required to support the business.
You are ideally:
- A rising professional with a keen interest in the sports and/or gambling industry.
- Familiar with at least one Content Management System.
- Experienced in writing and editing content in a commercial environment, preferably for a digital audience.
- Available to do shift work/out of hour activity.
- Someone with attention to detail.
- Able to work under pressure.
