A bit about what you will do: The Head Gardener will implement the vision and the design for the Fairmont Windsor Park gardens and grounds. You will also be responsible for the gardens and grounds being in excellent condition throughout the seasons whilst leading and managing the gardens team to ensure the delivery of the highest level of garden maintenance and presentation at all times.
- Overall responsibility for the application and management of all garden chemicals.
- Management responsibility for Garden and Grounds machinery and tools, ensuring they are maintained regularly and kept in good and safe working order.
- Supervise any gardening vendors who attend site to carry out works.
- Manage all garden project activities to ensure they are carried out on schedule and within allocated budgets, employing the assistance of external labour/organisations where necessary.
- Provide seasonal, monthly, weekly, and daily work programs for the gardens team.
- Manage area and staff in accordance to current Health & Safety Legislation and codes of practice.
- Pest and disease control implementing pest management systems.
- Participate in garden tours/demonstrations as required.
More about you: Proven experience in garden maintenance or horticulture. Minimum 2 years' experience in similar positions. Strong plant knowledge and understanding of garden care techniques. A Level 2 (or higher) qualification in Horticulture. A full UK driving licence. Excellent communication skills. A positive, proactive attitude.
Desirable experience: PA1/PA6 spraying licence. Knowledge of irrigation systems. Machinery certifications.
