A bit about what you will do... Chief Engineers in our luxurious hotel lead from the front and take a proactive, hands-on approach, overseeing all aspects of maintenance operations, ensuring excellent standards are maintained, creating a welcoming and safe environment that consistently exceeds guestsâ expectations. Responsibilities include:
- Lead and coordinate the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance services.
- Prepare and monitor the annual departmental operating budget, focusing on energy management, preventive maintenance and capital planning.
- Lead hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely completion within budget.
- Manage Health & Safety, including statutory compliance, risk assessment, permits to work and safe working practices.
- Address any guest concerns promptly, attentively and efficiently.
- Liaise closely with other hotel departments and wider management team to support the continual improvement of property maintenance standards.
- Maintain and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and supporting âgreenâ initiatives.
- Act as property leader for the brandâs âGreen Engageâ program.
- Coach, train, and support the team to provide consistently high standards while continually looking to improve.
- Perform Duty Manager shifts as required.
More about you... Strong leadership skills with proven experience to manage a team. Clear and influential communicator with the ability to interact across all levels. Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of budgeting and cost control. Proven experience to lead a green initiative for a large hotel. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs. Proven experience in managing, coaching, challenging and developing teams. Approachable and positive manner with a âcan doâ attitude. Ability to use initiative in challenging situations and under pressure. A smart and professional appearance. Proven track record in a similar position within a 5-star hotel. Recognised electrical or engineering qualification and specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields. Pool plant operator qualification preferred. Excellent understanding of Health and Safety regulations and best practices. Strong knowledge of the operation, control and maintenance of building services plant and systems. Previous experience using maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications. Excellent standard of English, both written and spoken.
