Hybrid (Manchester area) | Fintech | Permanent
We’re hiring a Data Business Analyst into a newly created role within an established fintech business making a significant investment in its data and technology function. This sits within a growing team and offers the opportunity to shape how data is defined, structured, and trusted across the organisation - not maintain legacy reporting.
The Role
You’ll operate at the intersection of business and data engineering, owning the definition, structure, and quality of reporting across Finance, Risk, Operations and Compliance.
You will:
- Define KPIs, metrics, and reporting logic end-to-end
- Translate business requirements into clear, buildable data specifications (data models, mappings, lineage)
- Work closely with data engineers to shape the data warehouse and semantic layer
- Own data quality, controls, and reconciliation, ensuring outputs are accurate and audit-ready
- Support delivery through backlog ownership, user stories, and UAT
What They’re Looking For
- Strong experience as a Data / BI Business Analyst in a data-driven environment
- Proven ability to define metrics and reporting logic, not just build reports
- Experience working with data engineers on data models / warehouse structures
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts (facts, dimensions, grain)
- Comfortable validating data using SQL and reconciliation techniques
- Experience in regulated environments (finance, lending, insurance, etc.) is highly beneficial
Why This Role
- Newly created position — real opportunity to shape the function
- Backed by significant investment in data and technology
- Work closely with senior stakeholders across the business
- High-impact role influencing decision-making and regulatory reporting
- Growing team with clear progression opportunities
