Fairmead is currently seeking a Site Manager to join our client, a leading contractor, for a new build school project. This is a permanent or freelance position that offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the construction of this key educational facility, with interviews taking place ahead of a potential start.
Role Overview:
As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and successful delivery of this new build school project. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, all while maintaining a safe and organised site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the site, ensuring smooth progress and adherence to schedules for the new build school project.
- Lead and manage the site team, including junior managers, and report directly to the Contracts Manager.
- Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and the supply chain.
- Take ownership of health and safety practices on-site, ensuring full compliance with all regulations and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Manage multiple elements of the project, solving issues that arise promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to the project.
- Ensure the highest quality standards, adhering to design specifications and promoting excellent craftsmanship.
Essential Requirements:
- A strong leader with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated with a proactive, positive approach to project management.
- Ability to manage and inspire teams, delivering projects to the highest standard.
- Proven experience in managing new build projects, ideally with educational or school facilities.
- Valid Health & Safety certifications and a thorough understanding of H&S law and practices.
Skills & Experience:
- Time Management: Ability to manage project timelines effectively, organising trades in accordance with the programme. Experience with ASTA software for short-term programming is desirable.
- Cost Control: Proficient in managing project budgets, reviewing variation requests, and ensuring cost efficiency.
- Quality Assurance: Strong understanding of technical drawings and specifications. Commitment to maintaining excellent quality throughout the project.
- Health & Safety: Comprehensive knowledge of H&S laws and the ability to enforce and adhere to site safety plans.
