SENIOR SITE MANAGER / PROJECT MANAGER – STEEL FRAME INDUSTRIAL BUILD LOCATION: Cheshunt DURATION: 12 months RATE: Negotiable, circa £350 per day (DOE) Fairmead is looking for a Senior Site Manager or Project Manager to oversee the delivery of a large-scale steel frame industrial development in Cheshunt. This is a standalone role, requiring a site lead with a strong background in steel frame construction, heavy groundwork operations, and industrial fit-out. The project includes extensive ground stabilisation works, so a deep understanding of groundwork methodologies is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking full ownership of the site, driving the build programme, and ensuring all phases, from substructure to final fit-out, are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest industry standards. The role requires a hands-on approach, managing subcontractors, liaising with stakeholders, and maintaining strict health and safety compliance throughout the project. Key Responsibilities * Oversee all site operations from enabling works through to completion, ensuring strict adherence to programme, cost, and quality targets * Lead and manage complex groundwork operations, including deep excavations, piling, drainage, and ground stabilisation works * Coordinate the erection of a large-scale steel frame structure, ensuring sequencing, logistics, and safety compliance are tightly controlled * Manage the industrial fit-out phase, including M&E installation, internal finishes, and final commissioning * Implement and enforce stringent health and safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements * Manage subcontractors, plant, and material deliveries, ensuring productivity and high standards of workmanship * Act as the key site lead, providing regular reports to the client, consultants, and project stakeholders Key Requirements * Extensive experience managing steel frame industrial builds with complex groundworks * Proven track record in ground stabilisation techniques, piling, deep drainage, and enabling works * Previous experience delivering projects in excess of £5m, working autonomously as the primary site lead * Ability to work independently in a standalone role, making key decisions and driving progress without daily senior support * Black CSCS card, SMSTS, and First Aid certification essential * Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong understanding of site logistics and programme management * Hands-on leadership style with a proactive approach to driving productivity and maintaining site standards What’s On Offer * 12-month contract with a respected main contractor * Major industrial development with significant groundwork and steel frame challenges * Competitive day rate, negotiable depending on experience, with circa £350 per day expected for the right candidate This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Site Manager or Project Manager with solid experience in steel frame construction and heavy groundworks.
