My client is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team near Chelmsford. This is a permanent role supporting projects across commercial, education, and healthcare, helping to deliver strong commercial control and accurate cost management throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities
- Assist with cost reporting, budgets, forecasts and valuations
- Produce and review valuations, take-offs and measurement documentation
- Support with subcontractor procurement and cost plan/tender support
- Assist in managing and valuing variations and change activity
- Track project costs vs plan and help identify commercial risks and issues early
- Support preparation of applications, interim payments, and final account information
- Maintain clear cost records and documentation in line with company processes
- Liaise with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders to keep information accurate and timely
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Assistant QS within UK construction (relevant sectors preferred)
- Understanding of measurement and valuation processes
- Good IT skills (e.g. Excel, cost management systems—training can be provided)
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- (Desirable) relevant QS qualification and/or working towards MRICS / similar
