Scope

  • To co-ordinate personal care and nursing care to our Residents in line with the core values and values framework of the Home ensuring these are utilised at all times and to ensure that such care is delivered in line with the Resident’s individual care plan which reflects current needs.
  • To ensure scope of practice is in line with the Home’s policies and procedures and the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • To work within the operating framework of the Home with regards to the job level ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed at all times.

What will my duties be?

You’ll learn how to provide trachea and ventilator care and help staff to deliver a range of care services, including social activities.

  • Ensuring that the personal care and other health needs of Residents are met and that assigned duties are executed in a professional and caring manner giving due regard to the Home’s core values and values framework and the Skills for Care Code of Conduct for Health and Social Care Workers and the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Ensuring all relevant clinical documentation is in place, reflects the current clinical and care needs of the Resident as is updated monthly, (or more often if the Residents condition changes) to ensure accurate records are maintained, in line with the Home’s policies and procedures and NMC guidance on record keeping.
  • Administering prescribed medication to Residents in line with the instructions of the prescribing doctor and the Home’s medication policies and procedures, and NMC guidance on the Standards of Medication Administration.
  • To act at all times to uphold the CQC domains ensuring care delivered is safe, caring, effective and responsive.
  • Using the clinical governance framework and adverse event reporting procedures as per the Home’s policy and procedures to identify and report any adverse events, particularly in respect of patient safety or other reportable events.

  • Proficiency in dispensing and administrating oral medication
  • The ability of managing and prioritising conflicting workloads
  • Interest to develop knowledge of the clinical speciality and own practice
  • Focused on continual personal development
  • Enthusiasm for and belief in patient healthcare

Desirable

  • Experience in neuro rehabilitation environment
  • Awareness and understanding of current neuro health issues
  • Proven record in teaching / mentoring / supervising others
  • Computer literacy skills
