Able to repair and troubleshoot boat electrical systems.

Can troubleshoot and repair different stern drives, outboards/inboards to determine the nature and extent of damage or malfunction.

Can provide repairs to all types of marine engines and drives.

Know how to install gauges and electronics, run wires and cables.

Able to work on outfitting vessels to include sponsons/collars, handrails, non-skid, etc.

Clean vessels for return to the customer.

Maintain standards, policies, practices, and procedures in order to deliver projects with efficiency to meet contractual requirements.

Ensure quality work is performed.

Ability to be a self-starter and work independently or with others.

Possess strong organizational skills and able to prioritize work.

Capable to tow boats on own, and launch and load boats with help.

Already know or will be trained to safely operate government vessels during sea trials.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete other tasks assigned by Shop Manager including assisting on the assembly floor as needed or work allows.

Qualifications:

  • Must have automotive and/or marine engine repair experience.
  • Basic trade knowledge, such as the use of job-related tools and equipment. Personal tools are required; Fairlead has specialty tools and manufacturer-specific tools.
  • Strong work ethic (flexible, reliable, and punctual).
  • Must be able to complete assigned work in an efficient and timely manner.
  • High mental and visual effort required.
  • Capable of reading and understanding work specifications and associated drawings and references.
  • Ability to obtain government issued base ID.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Demands:

While performing these job duties, the employee is routinely required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

This position is performed in a marine environment, with some local travel between facilities. Position is for forty hours a week. Regular hours are 6-2:30 M-F, Summer hours 6-4:30 M-TH.
