This role is perfect for a professional with extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, who excels in leading and mentoring a team of engineers and who can demonstrate their ability to develop and implement innovative solutions for complex geotechnical challenges ensuring compliance with industry standards. We will also accept applications for Senior and Principal Geotechnical Engineers.RESPONSIBILITIES Develop comprehensive ground and conceptual site models from desk studies and ground investigation data, producing clear, concise, and informative reports.Understand the role of engineering geology and geotechnical engineering in the design of residential, commercial, and retail developments, and associated infrastructure.Analyse soil and rock behaviour in the UK, focusing on the engineering characteristics of the London basin.Oversee earthworks processes, including the preparation of earthworks specifications, monitoring construction, and validating earthworks reports.Demonstrate expertise in soil-structure interaction, geotechnical design, and interpretation, including ground model determination, slope stability assessments, shallow and deep foundation design, ground improvement options, retaining wall design, and ground movement assessments.Apply value engineering principles to maximize client and contractor value while overseeing piling works, earthworks, and foundation processes.Execute temporary and permanent works design, ensuring robust project outcomes.Exhibit exceptional written communication skills with proficiency in report writing and reviewing.Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Engineers, aligning workload with resources.Coordinate multiple projects for various clients while managing conflicting deadlines.Understand fee structures, cost management, and billing within a consultancy setting, coupled with an appreciation of the budgetary and commercial drivers in the development sector.Cultivate strong client relationships to secure repeat business.Identify and leverage business opportunities.Prepare clear, concise, and well-presented proposals and fee bids for new projects.QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE Essential: BSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, or BEng in Civil Engineering.Essential :Proven and demonstrable experience in a civil or geotechnical engineering consultancy within the UK.Desirable :MSc in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.Desirable : Chartered Geologist or Chartered Engineer.Desirable : Experience with the National Highways CD 622 process, as well as familiarity with London Underground and Network Rail standards, and temporary works design.WHAT WE OFFER YOU Competitive salary and excellent flexible benefits packageComprehensive training opportunities and reimbursement of professional feesContributory pension, personal health care plan and life insurance33 days annual leave (inclusive of Public Holidays)Annual leave purchase and buy-back schemeBonus Schemes including loyalty bonus and qualifications awardAdditional benefits may vary between officesYou can learn more about our staff benefitshere.ETHOS We, at Fairhurst, know that progress within the industry is all about people.
