Fairhurst is looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Inverness office. In this senior position, you’ll take a lead role on technically challenging projects, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams while supporting the development of junior engineers in a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Lead and deliver UK‑based structural engineering projects in line with UK Building Regulations and relevant design standards.
- Undertake structural assessments and inspections of new and existing buildings (steel, concrete, masonry, and timber).
- Carry out detailed analysis and design using industry‑standard software including Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds.
- Produce high‑quality drawings, calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring programmes, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Contribute to project planning, risk management, and efficient workflows.
- Maintain clear project records in line with Fairhurst’s quality systems.
- Engage professionally with clients, contractors, statutory bodies, and stakeholders.
- Represent Fairhurst at meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Graduate and Project Engineers.
- Support the professional development of junior staff through structured feedback.
Requirements:
- Degree (BEng / MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Strong UK consultancy experience at Senior Structural Engineer level.
- Proven track record across sectors including commercial, residential, retail, industrial, and healthcare.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- High attention to detail and commitment to technical quality.
- Commercial awareness and ambition to contribute to business growth.
- Proficient in Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
