Fairhurst's specialist Events team are well known for delivering a broad range of high-quality consultancy support services across a number of sectors, including at world class sporting events.

Role Overview –
Supported by our Director, the Principal Events Consultant / Technical Manager will take a leading role in technical project delivery across all aspects of our events based project portfolio, in the UK and overseas.
The role will involve overseeing all event related operational planning and delivery, and including initial bidding; resources planning and co-ordination; event delivery operations; and post event completions, including de-brief reviews and reporting.
The remit of the role will include ensuring design quality, managing client, stakeholders and multidisciplinary inputs, ensuring compliance with industry standards/statutory requirements, and supporting the development of the consultants, engineers and technicians within the team.
Supported by our Director, the Principal Events Consultant / Technical Manager will act as a leading technical authority, contributing to project success and Fairhurst's reputation for events consultancy innovation and excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design & Technical Delivery
- Preparation of proposals, managing deliverables, budgets and invoicing.
- Lead, coordinate, and review consultancy outputs, ensuring accuracy, technical robustness, and compliance.
- Provide leadership across all Fairhurst's disciplines, including events operations, H&S civil and structural engineering.
- Ensure consultancy outputs meet regulatory requirements and align with Fairhurst's quality standards.
- Handling and responding to correspondence (emails, phone calls, letters).
- Organizing and maintaining project documentation, including reports, presentations, and meeting minutes.
- Assisting the Director and Partner with business development and key client management.
- Project Delivery & Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Manage technical inputs from internal teams
- Work closely with events /H&S consultants to ensure efficient resource allocation and timely delivery.
- Lead project reviews, client meetings, and stakeholder workshops.
- Quality & Compliance
- Conduct technical audits, risk reviews, and design checks.
- Drive best practice in consultancy/engineering processes, modelling, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, UK design standards, CDM duties, and Fairhurst's ISO-aligned quality systems.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the commercial and technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide site attendance for meetings, contractor site visits and during events for reactive support to contingency planning.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
- Chartered status or equivalent in appropriate discipline.
- Significant experience in events operations or H&S consultancy, including temporary works.
- Experience delivering temporary sports events (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills.
- Strong knowledge of UK design standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
