With over 35 years of experience and a team of over 70 engineers, alongside experienced project and site managers, we bring together mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, control and digital expertise. We design, build and integrate systems that are practical, buildable and maintainable, ensuring they perform reliably in operation.

FAIRFIELDS is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in shaping the financial performance and strategic direction of a growing group of businesses. This is a key senior role, reporting directly to the Managing Director, with responsibility for financial control, reporting, compliance, and strategic financial insight across the group.

This role offers real influence, combining hands-on financial control with commercial insight, leadership, and strategic partnership at a senior leadership level. The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with leadership capability and a proactive, business-partnering mindset.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • 5+ years in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
  • Experience in a group or multi-entity environment
  • Background in engineering, manufacturing or construction preferred
  • Understanding of a construction industry environment and associated financial requirements (e.g. CIS, reverse VAT etc)
  • Strong systems knowledge (Sage, job costing systems, payroll) and experience with CIS
  • Commercial, pragmatic, and confident working with senior stakeholders
