The Careers and Employability Officer will support the delivery of FSBs careers and employability initiatives, ensuring students and graduates are equipped with the skills, experience, and confidence needed to succeed in an evolving job market. Working closely with the Careers and Employability Manager, academic teams, and external partners, the post holder will provide high-quality guidance, coordinate events and programmes, and contribute to the enhancement of graduate outcomes across campuses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Careers Guidance & Student Support
    • Provide one-to-one careers advice and guidance to students and recent graduates, supporting their career planning, job search, and progression.
    • Deliver group workshops, presentations, and webinars on employability skills, CV and interview preparation, and career development topics.
    • Support students in identifying and securing work experience, internships, and graduate roles aligned with their academic disciplines and aspirations.
    • Maintain accurate student engagement records and track progress to support outcomes reporting and service evaluation.
  • Employability Programmes & Events
    • Coordinate and deliver careers fairs, employer-led workshops, networking sessions, and skills development programmes.
    • Promote and manage student participation in employability initiatives, including mentoring, placement, and volunteering schemes.
    • Support the creation and delivery of digital resources, including online guides, career development tools, and employability newsletters.
  • Employer & Alumni Engagement
    • Assist in building relationships with employers and professional bodies to create opportunities for placements, internships, and graduate employment.
    • Support the organisation of employer engagement activities, ensuring high-quality experiences for both employers and students.
    • Contribute to alumni engagement initiatives to strengthen mentoring and networking opportunities for students and graduates.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
    • Work collaboratively with academic and professional services staff to embed employability within the curriculum.
    • Gather feedback from students, employers, and alumni to inform the continuous improvement of employability provision.
    • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of careers and employability activities, supporting evidence-based enhancement of services.
Person Specification:
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in careers guidance, employability support, or student services (preferably within higher education).
  • Experience in organising careers events, workshops, or employer engagement activities.
  • Knowledge of current graduate labour market trends and employer expectations.
  • Experience providing one-to-one or group support to students or jobseekers.

Schedule: May include evenings and weekends.
