Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering fostering, education, residential and family services and caring for over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year.

Where and when do we need you?

We are actively seeking compassionate Support Workers for our home in Bristol. Join us in a team that empowers young adults to navigate the path towards independence and success.

Our Post‑16 supported living provision consists of a collection of small family homes with private rooms and shared communal areas. We aim to provide stability, consistency and acceptance, with the emphasis on young adults being responsible for themselves.

Responsibilities

  • Utilise excellent communication skills to understand and connect with young individuals.
  • Collaborate closely with the team to address significant issues and provide the support they need to thrive.
  • Go beyond surface behaviours and make a real difference in their lives using social life skills, therapeutic activities and role modelling.
  • Provide individualized care, focusing on personal development, nutrition, medical needs, hygiene and help them explore work placements, education and personal interests.
  • Empower residents to become self‑reliant by supporting them in daily tasks and helping them transition to independent living.
  • Act as a key worker, liaising with professionals and external agencies, and manage administrative tasks efficiently, including record‑keeping and reporting.
  • Deliver trauma‑informed responses using RiiSE training and appropriate interventions during times of crisis.

Work Schedule

This role is offered on a weekly rota pattern of 37.5 hours, working a 2‑on 4‑off shift pattern with an average of 2 sleep‑ins per week. The flexible schedule promotes a healthy work‑life balance.

Requirements

  • Full driving licence and access to a car.
  • Enhanced Disclosure (DBS) – the cost will be met by Fair Ways.
  • Right to work in the UK; no VISA sponsorship available.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Support for undertaking a Level 3 qualification if not already held.
  • Passion for supporting young people.
