Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering fostering, education, residential, mental health and family services to over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year. Responsibilities
- Planning and preparation – co‑ordinating and planning shifts nightly to ensure safeguarding is prioritised.
- Keeping vulnerable people safe – observe, assess and monitor the health, development and emotional well‑being of parents and children, providing high standards of physical care, hygiene and safety.
- Dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s – complete nightly tasks such as handover, case recording, risk assessments, ensuring all information is recorded accurately.
- Making a house a home – contribute to housekeeping and administration duties, including cleaning and general upkeep.
- Teamwork – work as part of a skilled, compact, specialist workforce with support and development.
- Developing your skills – commit to growth and undertake industry recognised RiiSE training specialising in trauma‑informed responses.
Working Pattern
This is a 12‑month maternity contract with the possibility of becoming permanent. You will work 10 hours per night between 21:30 and 07:30 as part of a 4‑on / 4‑off rolling rota, including weekends. Over the year this equates to an average 37.5‑hour working week.
Requirements
- Full driving licence and access to a car.
- Enhanced DBS disclosure (cost covered by Fair Ways).
- No VISA sponsorship – applicants must provide evidence of right to work in the UK.

- NVQ Level 2 in health and social care or another relevant subject.
