Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering Fostering, Education, Residential and Family services and caring for over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year. Where and when do we need you?

Fair Ways are looking to recruit a team of flexible and adaptable Multi-Site Children and Families Support Workers to provide full time relief cover across all our services. The successful candidates will work across multiple sites and will provide support to our services when they need it most. You will deliver the highest standards of care, protection and support to our children, young people and vulnerable adults across all sectors of our organisation.

Role responsibilities

  • Residential Children’s Homes – Contribute to maintaining a positive, safe and homely environment, promoting a warm, accepting atmosphere where safety and care of young people is paramount.
  • Residential Family Centre – Observe, assess, and monitor the health, development and emotional well-being of parents and children, promoting high standards of physical care, hygiene and safety for residents.
  • Fostering – Provide daytime and evening respite to Foster Carers by taking the child/young person into the community for 1:1 support sessions.
  • Independent Supported Living – Encourage development of independent life skills for post-16s within a therapeutic caring environment; interact with young people and manage complex behaviour.
  • Outreach – Provide flexible support in the family home and/or community to service users with disabilities, complex health needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Contact – Offer a safe and supervised environment allowing families to work towards re-establishing relationships following a breakdown or separation.
  • Education SEMH/ASD – Support the needs of our three specialist school sites, providing support to students both onsite in lessons and offsite in activities.

Contract and scheduling

This role is offered on a 37.5 hour per week basis and will be undertaken on a 6 week rolling rota including weekends. The working location and pattern will be reactive to meet changing needs. Rotas are based around the Solent and also Wales. Rotas will be offered a minimum of 6 weeks in advance but are subject to change. One sleep per week is expected as part of the role; additional sleeps will be agreed and paid. Mileage is paid for travel undertaken as appropriate.

Requirements

All candidates must have a full driving license and access to a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). The DBS disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.

Desirable experience

Desirable but not essential: While we value experience and qualifications, we also know that some of our best people come from unrelated backgrounds. These people already hold our core values at heart, and with our in-house training and development team, we have supported the rest.

  • Previous experience of working with young people and/or adults with health, social care or educational needs
  • A Level 3 qualification in childcare, social care, or another related discipline
