About Fair Ways

Fair Ways is a leading child‑services charity based in the Solent, delivering fostering, education, residential and family services to over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year.

Where and When We Need You

We are recruiting a flexible, adaptable team of Multi‑Site Children & Family Support Workers to provide full‑time relief cover across all our services. Successful candidates will work across multiple sites – including residential homes, family centres, fostering, supported living, outreach, contact and education sites – delivering the highest standards of care, protection and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Residential Children’s Homes – maintain a positive, safe and homely environment, promoting a warm and accepting atmosphere.
  • Residential Family Centre – observe, assess, and monitor the health, development and emotional well‑being of parents and children.
  • Fostering – provide daytime and evening respite to Foster Carers by taking the child/young person into the community for 1:1 support sessions.
  • Independent Supported Living – encourage the development of independent life skills for post‑16’s within a therapeutic caring environment and manage complex behaviour.
  • Outreach – provide flexible support in the family home and/or community to service users with disabilities, complex health needs and behaviour that challenges.
  • Contact – offer a safe and supervised environment allowing families to work toward re‑establishing relationships following a breakdown or separation.
  • Education SEMH/ASD – support the needs of our specialist school sites by providing support to students both onsite in lessons and offsite in exciting activities.

Role Details

• 37.5 hours per week on a 6‑week rolling rota, including weekends. 1 sleep per week is expected; additional sleeps will be agreed and paid. Mileage will be paid for travel undertaken as appropriate.

• Full driving licence required – you must have access to a car. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required; this cost will be met by Fair Ways.

Desirable but Not Essential

  • Previous experience working with young people and/or adults with health, social care or educational needs.
  • A Level 3 qualification in childcare, social care or a related discipline.
