Fair Ways is a leading children\’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering fostering, education, residential, mental health, and family services. We care about each other and are committed to making a change in the lives of the young people and service users we support.
Where and when do we need you? To support the exciting expansion of Fair Ways education provision we are looking for Learning Support Workers at our SEMH School located on the outskirts of Southampton, supporting around 25 young people. Our students have all been identified as having complex and additional needs and are better suited to 1:1 or 2:1 learning with an individualised curriculum. Students are placed with Fair Ways when most mainstream or specialist schools have been unable to meet their needs.
- Supporting the needs of the school on a day‑to‑day basis, including providing support to students both onsite in lessons and offsite in activities.
- Contributing to the achievement of each student’s aims and objectives through completing and monitoring assessments and implementing Individual Education Plans.
- Supporting Therapeutic Learning Practitioners or teachers to deliver outstanding learning opportunities.
- Providing a good example and offering suitable support and direction through honest, understanding, and proactive behaviour.
- Working as part of a supportive and experienced team, showing resilience, initiative, and adaptability.
Successful candidates will work 37.5 hours per week, term time only.
Essential qualifications:
- Full driving licence with access to a car.
- Enhanced Disclosure (DBS) – the cost will be met by Fair Ways.
Desirable but not essential:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant Award or equivalent, or willingness to work towards one with Fair Ways’ support.
