Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity delivering fostering, education, residential and family services across the Solent.

Support Fair Ways in its ambition to be trauma‑informed and embed an evidence‑based systemic approach to enhance care and support for children, families and vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sensory strategies tailored to young people’s needs, supporting staff training and consultation to enable a trauma‑informed approach.
  • Conduct therapeutic needs assessments and occupational therapy assessments for children and young people across ASD and SEMH schools, residential homes and the Family Centre, adapting assessments and interventions to maximise outcomes.
  • Provide safeguarding and risk‑management support, including contributing to the multi‑disciplinary team’s assessment and duty rosters, and supporting referrals and interventions following hub assessment.
  • Manage a caseload of young people with complex needs, oversee sensory interventions company‑wide, and contribute to team meetings and professional consultations, using outcome measures to evaluate quality.
  • Deliver debriefs to staff after risk events and promote a culture that supports recovery from trauma and goal attainment for young people.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Registered Occupational Therapist (RCOT) and current HCPC registration.
  • Experience undertaking OT and therapeutic needs assessments with autonomous case‑load management.
  • Experience liaising across health, education and social care settings.
  • Highly organised, methodical, able to manage workload independently.
  • Effective communication skills with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Reliable, enthusiastic, creative with innovative problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience or interest in developmental trauma and sensory integration.
Working Conditions
  • Part‑time: 22.5 hours per week, flexibly arranged across the week.
  • Hybrid: one day per week in the Therapeutic Hub office; remaining hours within relevant services.
  • Requires full driving licence and access to a vehicle; DBS disclosure required (cost paid by Fair Ways).
  • No visa sponsorship; right to work in the UK required.
