Fair Ways is committed to fostering a traumaāinformed therapeutic culture that makes a positive difference. To support that commitment, we are looking for a confident, professional and proactive mental health nurse to join our Therapeutic Hub. The role is intended to support Fair Ways in its ambition to be trauma informed and to help embed a united, evidenceābased, systemic approach that enhances the quality and impact of the care and support we provide.
Responsibilities- The assessment and management of young peopleās physical and mental health ā working to understand and manage complex risk with individuals and across services and networks; supporting children, young people and families in gaining safety first and helping teams maintain placements; encouraging and participating in formulating the individualās strengths and difficulties and promoting a culture of systemic thinking about risk.
- Supporting and developing internal teams ā supporting Fair Ways services in a āTeamāaroundātheāRelationshipā approach to service delivery; understanding the importance of meeting young people and Fair Ways teams where they are at and using relationship as the base and creating safe, coāregulated relationships that develop understanding around emotions.
- Trauma Informed Workforce Development ā providing leadership to the wider Fair Ways team; contributing to service development that aligns with the organisationās goals, with a particular focus on understanding complex trauma and other presentations of mental ill health or neurodiversity; supporting staff through 1ā1 supervision, formal training and ātrickleātrainingā in traumaāinformed approaches as well as direct therapeutic work.
- Utilising research and critical appraisal skills ā using evidence to support clinical decisionāmaking and oversight, both within own practice and when supporting teams; contributing to an ongoing audit program to evaluate practice within the Hub Team and wider Fair Ways services; ensuring data are used to develop and improve outcomes for our young people.
- Quality and Governance ā understanding and supporting the use of routine outcome measures; analysing data and supporting the quality and safety governance team in improving services through reviewing and developing new practice policies and procedures; showing commitment to personal and continuous professional development through selfāassessment, supervision, training and learning opportunities.
- Multidisciplinary and interāagency working ā liaising with relevant professionals, providers, commissioners and establishing positive working relationships with local networks (particularly CAMHs, AMHs, local GP surgeries) around the young people we support; writing and distributing therapeutic needs assessments with clear formulations and multiāagency risk management plans across services within Fair Ways and partner agencies.
- Evidence of a core professional qualification and registration with an associated governing body (e.g. Social Work England, Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)).
- Evidence of clinical and risk assessment for people experiencing a range of difficulties.
- Evidence of continuous CPD in a specialist area.
- Clinical and experience in a Child and Adolescent setting that demonstrates the appropriate competencies for the role; familiarity with the NHS and Social Care agenda and national directives and strategy relating to service user safety and quality improvement.
- Understanding of the changing landscape of public sector organisations and the current pressures on external services.
- Experience of delivering specialist interventions in the assessment and care of children and young people with complex needs, developmental trauma and attachment difficulties.
This role will be 37.5 hours per week. Partātime applications will be considered and working patterns can be discussed. The role will be undertaken as a hybrid position with one day per week in the Hub office and the rest of the time within relevant services as required. All candidates must have a full driving licence and access to a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS); the cost will be met by Fair Ways. Fair Ways is unable to provide VISA sponsorship for this role and all applicants must provide evidence of the right to work in the UK.
