We are looking for Support Workers to work as part of our fantastic team in our small collection of Children’s Residential and Intervention Homes in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Our intervention homes accommodate up to 5 children aged up to 18 who have experienced trauma and possible placement disruption, who may then present with behaviours of concern. We have recently expanded our provision in the area and are excited to be opening a residential children’s home in early 2025, supporting our overall aim of a successful transition into long term foster care or supported living.
As a Support Worker, you will be involved in:
- Being a Trauma Informed professional: To provide trauma informed responses through the individualised use of therapeutic and, where appropriate, physical intervention to ensure our young people are supported appropriately during times of crisis.
- Keeping Children Safe: To manage any child protection issues that may occur through effective reporting in line with the policies and procedures and to take an active role in understanding the risk assessments and individual behaviour support plans for young people.
- Upholding appropriate professional boundaries: To proactively maintain safe and respectful relationships with young people providing effective support, guidance and care.
- Providing encouragement and Support: To actively encourage young people to engage with a range of outdoor and indoor activities to build confidence, self-esteem and maximise learning and development of new skills.
- Making a house a home: To demonstrate the therapeutic importance of maintaining a clean, tidy and homely environment through effective role modelling and education.
- Accurate recording, reporting and communication: Documenting and communicating all relevant information in conjunction with colleagues and other professionals.
This role is offered as a permanent position on a rota basis. All candidates must have a full driving license and access to a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS), which will be met by Fair Ways.
Desirable but Not Essential: Previous experience as a Support Worker or in a similar role is preferred.
