As an Operations Pharmacist you will play a key role in supporting the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing and accuracy checking of both licensed and unlicensed medicines, including bespoke compounded formulations prepared under Section 10 of the Medicines Act 1968.
Working with the pharmacist team and in collaboration with pharmacy technicians and support staff, you will contribute to the smooth daily operation of the dispensary. Your responsibilities will focus on ensuring that all compounded products meet regulatory and quality standards, in line with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and relevant national and local guidelines.
You will assist in the accurate labelling, assembly, and accuracy checking of prescriptions, helping to maintain a high standard of service and product integrity. You will support the wider pharmacy team in responding to customer and prescriber queries, always ensuring excellent communication and a professional service. You will be required to support the training and development of pharmacy technicians and support staff.
- Dispense and accuracy-check prescriptions in line with SOPs and GPhC standards.
- Perform the quality assurance of bespoke non-sterile formulations compounded in the pharmacy.
- Ensure the safe and effective handling of both licensed and unlicensed medicines, including compounded products.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the dispensary, patient care team and production areas to maintain efficiency and accuracy in daily operations.
- Support and mentor pharmacy technicians and support staff, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- Respond promptly and professionally to prescriber and customer enquiries, ensuring service excellence.
- Contribute to maintaining accurate records, stock management, and compliance with all relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Identify and support initiatives for service improvement, process efficiency, and innovation within the dispensary.
