FAFS Fire & Security specialise in designing, installing, commissioning and servicing automatic Fire Detection, Protection and Alarm Systems in and around Greater London. We are currently looking to appoint a new Service Engineer specifically covering the London region.
Service Engineer Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled routine servicing in a timely, efficient, and cost‑effective manner in line with our Company’s quality standards.
- Carry out all other necessary works required at customer premises in accordance with our Company’s quality standards.
- Support the rota schedule as required to maintain a reliable and responsive out‑of‑hours service for our customers.
- Effectively communicate with our customers to ensure a good understanding of system and site status, particularly system defects that affect its correct function.
- Indicate to our client’s customers any Fire Safety information relevant to the site.
- Plan own work, including routine service/maintenance visits, emergency call‑out requirements and remedial repairs and minor additions to existing installations in line with service administration guidance.
- Ensure legible and timely completion of our clients’ paperwork as required.
- Be responsible for the management and security of own equipment stock in an efficient and economical manner by determining stock levels in relation to work activities and ordering stock items as and when appropriate.
- Operate in accordance with our client’s requirements, Company and customer’s quality standards and health and safety requirements.
- Discuss and recommend suggestions for system/service improvement with Line Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a like‑for‑like or similar role.
- Full and detailed understanding of BS5839 Part 1.
- Comprehensive understanding of the causes and cures of fire alarm problems, including an ability to recommend changes to practices and processes that may cause false alarms as well as changes to the fire detection, alarm systems.
- Basic Electrical Safety training (ECA).
- Manufacturers training in all other equipment required. This may include VESDA, Radio and Fire Suppression and will be decided by the Line Manager based on regional needs.
- Standards BS7671 (if involved in installation work), BS5839 Part 1, BS6266 where required.
- To operate business procedures within the framework of BN EN ISO 9001:2000.
- Preferred knowledge and capabilities on working on manufacturers Siemens and Gent analogue Fire alarm systems.
