Sheffield is England’s fourth largest city, the birthplace of UK electronica, and the greenest city in the UK. Our schools system is diverse and flourishing: in September 2024, Sheffield ranked 3rd out of 8 Core Cities for the proportion of schools judged good or outstanding. Our whole approach is underpinned by an absolute commitment to helping children and young people, particularly those with diverse backgrounds and life experiences, get the best start to life.

That’s where this job comes in. You’ll work with schools, voluntary sector and statutory partners to deliver an integrated portfolio of services (Early Years and Community, SEND, Inclusion and Access, Lifelong Learning, School Effectiveness and Curriculum Enrichment) that will support every child in Sheffield to achieve their full potential, and feel that they belong. You’ll bring extensive experience of leading a comparable service, with a nuanced and collaborative approach, and a strong vision of what excellence looks like.
