About the Role
Responsible in helping the extrusion team leader in running of the extrusion area producing the required sheet according to the production plan and defined specifications through effective organization and running of the Extrusion Team. Support Extrusion Team in ensuring the machinery is run efficiently complying with all operating and quality standards and ensure the production standards for health and safety, and hygiene are followed. You are aware of your responsibilities and will execute your duties in line with all company systems and procedures in place to support product safety, legality, integrity and quality, including systems for escalating issues to a designated manager where immediate action is required.
Key Accountabilities & Results Areas
- Ensure effective operation of the extrusion lines in line with production requirements safely, with overall supervision of extrusion and the team.
- Coordinate with production support groups (planning, maintenance, tool room and warehouse) to manage efficient production.
- Provide guidance to staff regarding work procedures, technical issues, priorities and special requests from customers.
- Troubleshoot operational problems and take corrective action to resolve them.
- Lead and participate in the study of operations and processes and recommend changes to improve methods, procedures and operational efficiency.
- Organize staff to ensure that adequate skilled staff are appropriately placed to fulfil the requirements of the production plan.
- Maintain good employee relations via two-way communication.
- Promote team ethics and develop team working through leadership.
- Complete documentation and accurate record keeping as required, including quality checks and keeping Faerch QMS up to date.
- Monitor production quality and motivate staff to approach zero defects to customers.
- Report any machinery or equipment in need of repairs.
- Regularly complete designated training and procedure updates.
- Comply with all current Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards in the work area and around machines when they are down.
- Adopt working practices to comply with Company and general health and safety requirements.
- Communicate with team leaders and all other personnel as required.
- Any other duties as requested by Line Managers/other Managers that are appropriate for your job role.
- Take over of the running of extrusion if no team leader present.
