The Duke of York’s Royal Military School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and skilled Resident Sports Coach with a specialism in Hockey to join the School from September 2026. The successful candidate will support the delivery of high‑quality PE, Games and co‑curricular sport across Years 7–13, coaching hockey and contributing to wider sports provision, including netball and other major sports. The role also includes supporting fixtures, extracurricular activities and the wider boarding life of the School, making it an excellent opportunity for someone considering a career in education or coaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • To help deliver and coach the hockey programme throughout the School
  • Delivering Academic Physical Education and the Games Programme
  • To promote sport, health and wellbeing for life in the School
  • To help to develop our major sports such as; Hockey, Netball, Cricket & Athletics.
  • To help the delivery of coaching sessions in other sporting areas when directed by the Director of Sport/Head of PE
  • Full involvement for all timetabled games and PE lessons
  • Weekend fixtures coaching, refereeing or umpiring
  • Responsibility for coaching teams and running team practices throughout the year during games lessons and in the clubs and activities programme
  • Covering academic lessons and invigilation as required
  • Involvement with evening and weekend duties within one of the boarding houses as a tutor
  • Undertake any reasonable tasks that the Director of Sport/Head of PE deemed to be appropriate

Further Information

This is a term‑time only, fixed‑term contract running until July 2027. The salary is £18,098 per year, with accommodation and all meals provided during term time. For candidates who also take on the responsibilities of House Tutor, an additional £3,901 per year will be paid.
