The McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research is seeking to recruit an Assistant Administrator to cover maternity leave. This position is full time, and fixed term for twelve months or the return of the post holder, whichever is earlier. Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.
Covering a key role within our team, this position provides administrative and personal assistance for the Institute's Administrator to facilitate the efficient operation of all work undertaken, whilst also giving the role holder the opportunity to lead on specific responsibilities to include:
- Financial processing
- Managing a popular Visiting Scholar scheme
- Acting as Secretary to an internal grant awarding committee
The successful applicant will be educated to HND/HNC, Level 4/5 vocational qualifications, or equivalent level of practical experience. They should have confident IT and AV skills to support events and meetings which are an important feature of the Institute's activities. They will assist with event planning and support a variety of other administrative tasks.
They will have excellent organisational skills, be flexible to changing demands and enjoy problem solving and finding solutions. Experience in administration is essential and knowledge of University systems such as i-Procurement, Softco, Sympa, University Card, CCWS and Drupal, is highly desirable.
