About the Role:
The Warehouse & Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end movement, coordination, and distribution of goods across FT’s UK and international operations. Based at the Leeds site, this role ensures the efficient flow of materials, parts, and spares to meet project, service, and production needs. Working closely with all departments, this is a key role to ensure the smooth flow of materials into and out of the business. The Logistics & Distribution Manager also leads improvements in warehouse and logistics processes, ensures system accuracy, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements are met.
What You’ll Be Doing
Responsibilities
- Coordinate all inbound and outbound logistics, including domestic and international shipments.
- Ensure the warehouse is run effectively through close monitoring of KPI’s.
- Ensure that Operations have sufficient product to build in line with business planning.
- Ensure the timely, secure, and cost-effective transport of goods to customers, suppliers, and service engineers.
- Manage relationships with couriers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers.
- Oversee the preparation of all shipping documentation, including export and customs forms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Procurement team to ensure alignment on lead times, deliveries, and supplier shipments.
- Liaise with the Projects team to ensure delivery timelines support installation and commissioning schedules.
- Collaborate with the Production teams to maintain accurate visibility of parts availability and spares readiness.
- Ensure common processes and procedures are applied across other FT sites.
- Provide shipping and logistics input into planning meetings and project reviews.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Monitor warehouse & logistics KPIs including delivery performance, freight costs, and shipping accuracy.
- Drive continuous improvement in distribution processes, packaging standards, and documentation accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HMRC, import/export, and customs regulations, including Incoterms and commercial invoicing requirements.
- Maintain accurate records for audit and reporting purposes.
- Manage the Warehouse & Logistics team, supporting daily operations and prioritisation.
- Provide coaching, training, and support to build logistics and systems knowledge.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer-focused service.
- Supporting any performance, conduct, and absence management processes required in partnership with HR.
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Knowledge
- Experience with ERP systems for managing warehouse and logistics team within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proven understanding of international shipping procedures, Incoterms, and customs documentation.
- Strong coordination and communication skills, with experience liaising between technical and commercial teams.
- Familiarity with Microsoft systems and logistics software.
