The Platform Engineering team at FactSet is looking for a Technical Product Manager to drive product requirements and influence the architecture of our next generation Platform as a Service. Our Internal Developer Platforms are the foundation for how FactSet's engineering organization builds, deploys, and operates software — providing self-service, governed access to compute, CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure services. The position will exist within our Platform Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) organization and will work to create a coherent product vision that unifies existing platform capabilities into a single, developer-centric experience across the enterprise.
As the Technical Product Manager, you will own the product strategy and delivery of key platform capabilities that serve FactSet's entire engineering population. A core focus of this role is ensuring the platform delivers an exceptional developer experience while providing the governance capabilities required by security, compliance, and engineering leadership. You will manage complex, cross-cutting initiatives to completion through planning, organization, communication, and coordination across infrastructure, security, and application development teams. You will perform build-vs-buy analysis, evaluate platform orchestration solutions, and identify opportunities to consolidate fragmented internal tooling into standardized, managed offerings.
Responsibilities:
- Drive requirements gathering across developer personas and translate needs into platform capabilities with clear acceptance criteria.
- Plan platform releases, prioritize features, define success metrics, and make data-driven decisions on capability investment.
- Understand the full developer lifecycle — from code commit through production operation — and identify friction points where platform investment delivers the highest leverage.
- Assess platform success metrics including developer adoption rates, deployment frequency, lead time for changes, self-service coverage, and infrastructure cost efficiency.
- Lead a senior leadership SteerCo informing key stakeholders on platform strategy, adoption progress, and investment tradeoffs.
- Create and maintain the platform product roadmap, aligning cross-functional teams (cloud engineering, CI/CD, observability, security) around clear milestones.
- Clarify user needs and acceptance criteria, regularly interacting with engineering teams to prioritize backlog items and provide clarity on platform contracts and interfaces.
- Align agile delivery teams to execute on platform vision, goals, and strategy across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Act as a trusted advisor to challenge the status quo, driving consolidation of fragmented tooling and championing developer experience as a first-class concern.
- Assess team resource needs, drive strategic build-vs-buy decisions, and coordinate with vendor partners on commercial platform components.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another relevant technical field.
- 10+ years' experience in technical product management with a strong track record of delivering developer platforms, infrastructure products, or internal tooling in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
- Prior experience implementing or managing an Internal Developer Platform, Platform as a Service, or developer productivity tooling at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to balance developer experience with governance, security, and compliance requirements.
- Flexibility to meet continuously changing priorities and challenges across a large engineering organization.
- Ability to drive consensus and adoption across teams that have historically operated independently.
- Strong overall technical background with experience in at least some of the following:
- Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native architecture
- CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, GitOps)
- Developer portals and service catalogs (Backstage or similar)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Crossplane, Helm)
- Observability platforms (metrics, logging, tracing)
- AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platform services
- Identity and access management, zero-trust networking
