The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a driven and ambitious individual to join our Finance team as a Trainee Accountant (Level 7 Apprentice). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is ready to begin their chartered accountancy journey via the Level 7 Apprenticeship, whether through the ICAEW or ACCA pathway (other providers also considered).

In this entry-level role, you’ll support the wider finance function in delivering outstanding outsourced services to a diverse range of clients. You’ll get hands-on with real client work from day one, developing practical skills while working towards a prestigious qualification. With support and supervision, you’ll gain exposure to everything from bookkeeping and reconciliations to producing management accounts and preparing reports.

  • Recording daily financial transactions accurately and consistently.
  • Issuing payment invoices and client receipts.
  • Preparing and submitting ad hoc financial reports to management under supervision.
  • Performing reconciliations, monthly journals, and assisting with payroll, accruals & prepayments.
  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts and working papers.
  • Responding to daily client queries and assisting with broader finance tasks as needed.

About you:

You’re methodical, curious, and proactive, someone who’s keen to learn and eager to make an impact. You have excellent attention to detail and enjoy working in a team-focused, client-driven environment. You’ll be supported every step of the way, but we’re looking for someone ready to take initiative and responsibility as you grow into the role.

You’ll need:

  • A degree (2:2 or above), or AAT Level 4, or AAT Level 3 (with Merit) and working towards Level 4 or early ACCA stages.
  • Strong numeracy and computer skills.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
  • Some prior experience in a finance-related role or internship.

It would be great if you also have:

  • A working knowledge of Xero or other accounting software.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience working with multiple clients or in public practice, including audit.
  • Confident Excel skills and a keen interest in process improvement.
