My client is a Southend based care provider who are looking to recruit an experienced healthcare assistant to work across the region they cover (Southend, Rochford, Canvey Island, Hockley) carrying out a variety of duties. The role includes a personal care and household management programme that is tailored to each service user in the form of a care plan.
Duties:
- Observing and respecting the service user's dignity, privacy, and independence to the fullest extent possible.
- Dressing and undressing/preparing the service user for Day Care or trips out.
- Washing/bathing/showering/shaving/grooming/cleaning teeth.
- Hair care (washing and brushing).
- Toileting and all aspects of personal hygiene.
- Continence management.
- Care of pressure sores (under appropriate nursing supervision).
- Getting in and out of bed.
- Assisting with the use of Aids to Daily living/Rehabilitation Aids, as required.
- Helping with rehabilitation programmes, as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
- Day/evening/night sitting services as required.
- Assisting the service user to take prescribed medication.
- Preparation of snacks and meals according to the service user’s likes/dislikes.
- Assisting with feeding as required.
- General cleaning duties, to include cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, polishing.
- Bed making.
- Clearing refuse and rubbish.
- Laundering, hand washing, ironing, light needlework as required.
- Shopping and the preparation of shopping lists and assistance with budgeting.
- Maintaining links with family and friends, collecting prescriptions, and other social activities.
- Communicating effectively to meet clients' diverse needs.
- Providing mental and emotional support.
- To look after the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of the Clients using a person-centred approach while also dealing with challenging behaviour as directed by care plan.
- Monitor and record patients' mental health status and report any significant changes.
- Conform to all Policies and procedures laid down by the organisation detailed within the company employee handbook and Health and Safety handbook in respect of carrying out these care duties and in other administrative aspects of the business, as relevant.
- Participate as directed by the Manager/Supervisor in induction training and regular In-service training programmes.
- Maintain accurate concise, and timely records of service user care, diary logs and mileage logs.
- Participate in Staff, Team and Quality Management Review meetings as directed by the Care Services Manager/supervisor.
- Report back to the Manager/Supervisor on any aspect of service user care which he/she feels warrants investigation of urgent action.
- To participate in reviews of service users’ Care Plans as required.
You will need to have previous experience within a similar role (Essential) and a full UK driver's Licence.
