We are currently recruiting for a Fixed Wire Tester to work on a prestigious, high-end government facility based in Westminster. This is a long-term opportunity for an experienced Fixed Wire Tester looking to secure consistent work within a highly regulated and professional environment.

The successful Fixed Wire Tester will be responsible for carrying out inspection, testing, fault finding and installation works across a critical government site. Due to the nature of the facility, this role requires high standards of workmanship, attention to detail and full compliance with current electrical regulations.

Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (07:00 – 19:00 and 19:00 – 07:00) Rotation: Days and nights (rotating) Shift Options: 4 on 4 off or full continental shift (client flexible)

As a Fixed Wire Tester, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out fixed wire testing and inspection in accordance with BS 7671
  • Completing Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
  • Testing emergency lighting systems
  • Carrying out dead and live testing procedures
  • Identifying and diagnosing faults within electrical systems
  • Completing remedial works following inspection and testing
  • Undertaking new electrical installations including containment, cabling, distribution boards and final circuits
  • Working on single and three-phase systems
  • Ensuring all work complies with current IET Wiring Regulations
  • Accurately completing certification and compliance documentation
  • Working safely within a high-security, operational government environment
  • Liaising with site management and compliance teams

This Fixed Wire Tester position requires someone confident working independently, as well as part of a wider engineering team.

Requirements

To be considered for this Fixed Wire Tester role, you must have:

  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing (or equivalent 2394/2395)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • AM2 (desirable but advantageous)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Proven experience as a Fixed Wire Tester
  • Experience completing EICRs in commercial or government environments
  • Full set of own calibrated testing equipment (if required)

Security Requirements

Due to the sensitive nature of the site, the Fixed Wire Tester must:

  • Have a full 10-year UK footprint (no significant gaps outside the UK)
  • Have a clean criminal record
  • Be able to pass enhanced security clearance
