With the freedom to lead strategy and design from start to finish, you’ll become a key decision-maker in the business. You’ll have a direct impact on how engineering solutions are developed and delivered, without the usual constraints of consultancy work. As a key technical voice, you’ll influence land acquisition, long-term infrastructure planning and design delivery across multiple regions. This gives you the opportunity to work on a wide range of high-profile projects and build a portfolio that will open doors to even bigger career moves in the future. With a strong focus on early-stage strategy, viability and technical risk, you’ll be shaping the future of residential development. Your work will help secure planning permissions, assess commercial viability and ensure efficient, cost-effective construction of new housing schemes.
What you’ll do:
- Lead engineering input on strategic land and early-stage planning, shaping the direction of major projects from first interest to allocation.
- Oversee detailed engineering design and approvals, ensuring solutions are cost-effective, buildable and long-lasting.
- Develop viability, phasing and infrastructure strategies that support commercial decisions and drive project success.
- Engage with stakeholders across land, planning, design and construction to provide clear, technical guidance that keeps projects moving.
- Manage and mentor your engineering team, building their skills and commercial awareness while improving systems and processes.
What you’ll need:
- Civil engineering background from consultancy, housebuilder or a mixed route.
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) preferred but not essential, where experience is clearly equivalent.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Valid CSCS card (or ability to obtain).
- Willingness to travel to sites and offices across the operating regions as required.
- Able to 'see the scheme in the field' – strong spatial awareness and ability to read a site, not just a drawing.
- Confident operating at group level, dealing with Technical Directors, Managing Director and senior board members.
- Strong communicator who can translate technical issues into clear commercial choices.
