This is your chance to take full ownership of the Civil Engineering function and shape it with your ideas. With the freedom to lead strategy and design from start to finish, you’ll become a key decision-maker in the business. You’ll have a direct impact on how engineering solutions are developed and delivered, without the usual constraints of consultancy work. As a key technical voice, you’ll influence land acquisition, long-term infrastructure planning and design delivery across multiple regions. This gives you the opportunity to work on a wide range of high-profile projects and build a portfolio that will open doors to even bigger career moves in the future. With a strong focus on early-stage strategy, viability and technical risk, you’ll be shaping the future of residential development. Your work will help secure planning permissions, assess commercial viability and ensure efficient, cost-effective construction of new housing schemes.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead engineering input on strategic land and early-stage planning, shaping the direction of major projects from first interest to allocation.
  • Oversee detailed engineering design and approvals, ensuring solutions are cost-effective, buildable and long-lasting.
  • Develop viability, phasing and infrastructure strategies that support commercial decisions and drive project success.
  • Engage with stakeholders across land, planning, design and construction to provide clear, technical guidance that keeps projects moving.
  • Manage and mentor your engineering team, building their skills and commercial awareness while improving systems and processes.

What you’ll need:

  • Civil engineering background from consultancy, housebuilder or a mixed route.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) preferred but not essential, where experience is clearly equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Valid CSCS card (or ability to obtain).
  • Willingness to travel to sites and offices across the operating regions as required.
  • Able to 'see the scheme in the field' – strong spatial awareness and ability to read a site, not just a drawing.
  • Confident operating at group level, dealing with Technical Directors, Managing Director and senior board members.
  • Strong communicator who can translate technical issues into clear commercial choices.
