The Company
We are MyDek Ltd, on a mission to make high-rise living safer through our fully certified, non-combustible decking and cladding systems.
Having built our reputation across the balcony and terrace decking market, in both refurbishment and new-build, we are now expanding our cladding offering. Unlike suppliers who simply sell a board through a merchant, we work directly with designers and site teams to deliver the whole solution, from substructure and fixings through to installation. It is a genuinely technical, solution-led way of working, and it is what sets us apart.
We are now looking for a Façade Technical Engineer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis. The working hours are 07:30 - 16:30, Monday to Friday, based at our Stokenchurch office with customer and site visits as required.

This is a role with real autonomy and visibility. You'll be trusted to solve problems, work directly with customers and influence solutions rather than simply producing drawings to somebody else’s brief.
You'll work across live façade, cladding and decking projects, combining technical design with buildability, value engineering and commercial thinking - and have the opportunity to see your solutions through to installation.
As MyDek grows its cladding offering, the role can grow with it, giving you the opportunity to become a key part of our technical capability and progress into a senior technical, pre-construction or façade/cladding management role.
The Role
As a Façade Technical Engineer, you will be the technical partner to our Sales team and customers, applying our decking and cladding systems to live projects from specification and pre-construction through to delivery.
Working directly with architects, façade consultants, designers, contractors and installers, you will review drawings, specifications and project requirements, investigate technical challenges and develop technically sound, buildable and commercially competitive solutions. Much of this involves remediation projects where existing drawings are missing or unreliable, so understanding how something will actually be built matters as much as how it looks on a drawing.
A key part of the role is cladding: reviewing interfaces, substructures, fixing arrangements and practical installation considerations, alongside structural suitability and wind loading.
You will also help customers assemble the project-specific technical information needed for the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) and Building Control processes, closing information gaps and keeping proposals within the tested and approved capabilities of our systems.
Additionally, you will:
- Identify value‑engineering opportunities, such as improving layouts, spans or fixing arrangements to reduce cost and complexity, and explain their practical and commercial benefits to Sales, Estimating and customers
- Answer technical queries and attend design team meetings
- Identify technical risks, information gaps and barriers early
- Produce sketches, layouts and CAD drawings where they help communicate the solution
- Undertake site visits, support installations and deliver product and installation demonstrations
- Take ownership of day‑to‑day project technical support, escalating to senior technical colleagues and specialists where required
About You
To be considered as a Façade Technical Engineer, you will need:
- Experience within construction, façades, cladding, building envelope, structural products or a similar technical project environment
- Experience of reading and interpreting architectural and construction drawings, with a good grasp of detailing and practical buildability
- The ability to undertake or competently interpret structural and wind‑load calculations relevant to the proposed systems
- CAD capabilities sufficient to produce clear project layouts and details
- A practical, commercially aware and inquisitive approach to problem‑solving, balancing technical requirements with cost, programme and installation
- The confidence to communicate directly with customers, architects, designers, contractors and installers, and to challenge a design constructively
- The ability to manage multiple live projects
- A full, valid UK driving licence and willingness to attend customer meetings and sites
Ideally, you will also have:
- Experience of façade or cladding systems, including aluminium, mineral composite or other non‑combustible systems
- Experience of the Building Control and/or Building Safety Regulator process
- Experience of producing structural or wind‑loading calculations, value engineering, or delivering installer training
- A relevant qualification would be beneficial, although practical construction knowledge, technical ability and strong problem‑solving skills are equally important
