My client is a leading facades contractor with a strong presence across the UK, delivering complex and high-profile building envelope projects. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Facades Design Manager to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging façade schemes, with the flexibility of hybrid working and involvement across multiple major projects.
The Role
As a Facades Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project delivery. You will coordinate internal and external design teams, ensuring all façade systems are technically compliant, buildable, and delivered in line with programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the full façade design process across multiple projects
- Coordinating architects, consultants, and specialist subcontractors
- Reviewing and approving design information, drawings, and specifications
- Ensuring compliance with current regulations, including fire and building safety standards
- Driving design programme and ensuring deadlines are met
- Resolving technical design issues and providing practical solutions
- Working closely with project and commercial teams to ensure design aligns with budget and buildability
- Attending design team meetings and acting as the key point of contact for design-related matters
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Design Manager role within the façade/cladding sector
- Strong technical knowledge of façade systems, including:
- Rainscreen cladding
- Curtain walling
- Brickwork and traditional façades
- Insulated render systems
- Good understanding of current building regulations, particularly relating to fire compliance and façade remediation
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Relevant construction or design-related qualifications
