The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald’s regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross‑sector skills across five key sectors: Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal / Senior Associate Façade Engineer to join a growing London team and help deliver a wide variety of façade projects. The role offers exposure to everything from investigative surveys and defect assessments to large‑scale new‑build developments. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams. You will be involved in coordinating design activities, resolving technical challenges and delivering practical engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead and deliver façade projects in a technically competent and timely manner
- Provide technical façade engineering advice to various stakeholders
- Develop façade documentation and specifications to a high level of quality
- Review specialist contractor submissions
- Assist in the growth of the façade business, contribute to bid writing and the winning of work
- Foster and maintain strong client relationships with new and existing clients, architects and contractors
- Supervision and mentoring of other design staff, checking and approving documentation for issue
Candidate Specification
- Chartered Engineer with Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering or significant experience from within the façade industry
- Significant experience within façade design with particular emphasis on the structural aspects of façade design, durability, material selection, and design for weathertightness
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including report preparation
- Commercially aware with the ability to successfully lead façade projects through all phases whilst managing and developing strong client relationships
- Be a self‑motivated, enthusiastic and team focused individual able to collaborate in multi‑disciplinary environment to successfully deliver Mott MacDonald façade projects
