We are currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join a well-established and growing business based in Leicestershire. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong end-to-end payroll experience looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive finance team.
Description of the role
- Oversee daily payroll processing and support payroll team members
- Ensure accurate salary payments for a workforce of over 450 employees
- Review payroll data including starters, leavers, deductions, tax codes, and statutory payments
- Process and submit statutory payroll requirements including RTI, PAYE, NIC, pensions, and HMRC submissions
- Prepare monthly and annual payroll reports including P32, P45, and P60 documentation
- Support the administration of workplace pensions and auto‑enrolment requirements
- Manage payroll‑related debt records for former employees and liaise with recovery agencies where required
- Work closely with HR to ensure employee records, starters, and leavers are maintained accurately
- Coordinate payroll documentation and compliance requirements for audits
- Monitor time and attendance systems, overtime, absenteeism, and working hours records
- Assist with payroll year‑end reporting, audit preparation, and benefit reporting including P11D/BIK
- Identify opportunities for payroll process improvements and efficiencies
About you
- Minimum 4-5 years' payroll experience with full end‑to‑end payroll knowledge
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance
- Previous experience supporting or mentoring payroll team members
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally and discreetly
- Strong IT skills including MS Excel and payroll reporting systems
- Experience using Sage 50 Payroll (highly desirable)
