We are currently supporting a well-established and growing business in the recruitment of an experienced International Trade Lead to join its busy operations and administration team. This is a varied role for someone with a strong background in export administration, international shipping and customs processes, who enjoys working across different areas of a business and taking ownership of the smooth coordination of international orders. You will be responsible for ensuring import and export activity is managed accurately and efficiently, while also providing wider administrative and customer support to the business.

Description of the role:

  • Managing day-to-day import and export administration.
  • Preparing and checking relevant shipping and commercial documentation.
  • Coordinating customs clearance requirements and ensuring documentation is completed accurately.
  • Maintaining accurate records relating to international shipments and deliveries.
  • Liaising with customers, logistics providers and external partners to coordinate shipments.
  • Monitoring the progress of orders and keeping relevant stakeholders informed.
  • Responding to customer enquiries and providing updates on orders and deliveries.
  • Supporting general customer service activities by telephone and email.
  • Coordinating the preparation of goods and documentation for dispatch.
  • Supporting purchasing and procurement processes, including raising purchase orders.
  • Maintaining internal systems, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ensuring administrative records are accurate, organised and up to date.
  • Providing general administrative support across the wider team.
  • Assisting with additional duties and projects as required.

About you:

  • Previous experience in export, import or international trade administration.
  • A good understanding of international shipping and customs processes.
  • Knowledge of customs documentation and commodity codes.
  • Experience dealing with freight, logistics providers or shipping partners.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing administrative environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to documentation.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Good numerical and analytical ability.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to manage changing priorities.
  • A proactive attitude with a genuine interest in developing your knowledge and skills.
