We are looking for a talented editor to join our non-fiction team to cover a maternity leave for a 12 month fixed term contract.

What you will be doing…

As Editor you’ll be responsible for structural and line edits of non-fiction (including history, memoir and gift books). The role also includes drafting jackets, ATI and catalogue copy as well as liaising with authors, Production, Pre-Press and Design to ensure books are delivered on time. You’ll work collaboratively with publicity, marketing and sales teams on campaign plans, positioning and championing authors and titles in and out of house. You will read and report on submissions and contribute to commissioning meetings. There is the potential to acquire repeat authors.

Who we’re looking for…

Applicants must have editorial experience at Assistant Editor level or above. We are looking for someone who loves working with authors to create the very best books. It is essential that you can show editorial sensitivity and flair as well as a meticulous eye. Excellent communication, organisation, time management and problem-solving skills are essential. You need to be passionate about non-fiction.

This maternity cover role will report to the Associate Publisher. Ideally beginning in January 2027 at the latest, it will be a full-time position for a fixed term of approximately 12 months on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of three days in our central London office.
